ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Mine Controller to join our Finance & Administration team reporting to the Mine Controller.

 

The Assistant Mine Controller will be responsible for financial accounting and reporting, performing full-cycle accounting and leading the Finance team.

 

A tele-remote work model is available for employees on a 4/3-5/2 rotation, whereby the 4/3 rotation is worked directly at the remote mining operation or regional office, and the 5/2 rotation is worked by employees outside of an official Agnico Eagle site (i.e., work from home, remote location).

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Assume ownership of Detour Lake Mine financial reporting requirements such as monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements;
  • Ensure that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a timely basis;
  • Assist with documentation & enhancement of internal controls under the SOX framework & be the focal point for SOX Internal & External Audits;
  • Plan, organize and lead the work of direct / indirect reports and establish performance standards;
  • Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Work closely with internal and external auditors to ensure an efficient audit process;
  • Lead the professional development and mentoring of the accounting team;
  • Participate in special projects, when required, including implementing IT related finance initiatives, accounting policies and other projects.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Our ideal candidate has:

 

  • University Degree or College Diploma combined with a CA, CMA, CGA or CPA designation;
  • Three or more years in a public practice with experience focusing on design & testing of internal controls & audit of listed companies (Preferably in the resource / manufacturing sector);
  • Five or more years of accounting experience including two years or more as a Chief Accountant (Preferably in the resource / manufacturing sector);
  • Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills;
  • Experience with SAP or large ERP systems is required along with advanced Excel skills;
  • Influential leader with a strong business acumen;
  • Strong presentation, verbal, written and listening skills.
