ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

 

Based at the Detour Lake Mine site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Vacuum Truck Operator to join our Process Plant Operations team reporting to the Process Plant Day Services Supervisor.  

 

Detour Lake is the second largest gold producing mine in Canada with the largest gold reserves and substantial growth potentialThe open pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometres northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometres by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt.The mine is situated in the area of the historic Detour Lake open pit/underground mine operated by Placer Dome which produced 1.8 million ounces of gold from 1983 to 1999. The Detour Lake operation has a mine life of approximately 22 years with an average gold production of 659,000 ounces per year.

 

The Vacuum Truck Operator will be accountable for the safe operation of the vacuum truck and ensuring a safe approach to all tasks performed.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Ensuring the safety of the team by applying a zero harm approach to all tasks performed;
  • Operate vacuum units and associated equipment in a safe manner;
  • Ensuring proper load securement of hoses and other equipment;
  • Responsible for transporting, loading and offloading fluids at various locations;
  • Completing operational inspections and housekeeping in designated sections of the plant;
  • Assist with preparing and cleaning equipment for maintenance personnel;
  • Assist with the Day Services team from time-to-time;
  • Ensuring any safety issues are remedied and/or promptly reported to shift supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Our ideal candidate has:

 

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED;
  • DZ License;
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience operating a Vacuum Truck;
  • Experience working in an industrial plant setting is considered an asset;
  • Strong knowledge of various vacuum units and their proper operation;
  • Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions;
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment with ability to lift 50lbs or more;
  • Willingness to learn and demonstrate potential to develop;
  • Good verbal and listening skills;
  • Motivated, reliability and enjoy working as part of a team.
