INTRO

Based at the Canadian Operations Centre, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Communications General Supervisor to join our Communications team reporting to the Director, Communications.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Communications General Supervisor will have to plan, develop, write, produce, coordinate and issue written, oral or audio-visual communications, in support of Agnico Eagle’s Ontario Region strategic business goals and priorities. The incumbent will work closely with the Human Resources team  on employer branding, recruitment and retention communications, and the Community Relations team, to raise awareness of our work supporting our different stakeholders and Indigenous partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and launch targeted internal and external communications activities for the Ontario Region and mining operations
  • Continually advance the use of an appropriate mix of communications programs and vehicles to improve the effectiveness of communications efforts
  • Support management in building awareness and understanding of Agnico Eagle’s annual business strategy and objectives within the Ontario Region
  • Support Community Relations and Human Resources teams with communications activities to raise awareness of partnership activities and developments including public information and consultation events, as well as recruitment programs
  • Build strong relationships with all regional media outlets and effectively manage all requests
  • Manage and develop content and an editorial calendar for the Ontario Region Facebook Page
  • Work in close collaboration with the corporate communications team to develop an Ontario Regional website
  • Develop and manage content and an editorial calendar for the Ontario Regional website
  • In collaboration with the Ontario sites, ensure planning and oversight of annual and ad-hoc photo and video shoots
  • Prepare subject matter experts for print, audio and on-camera interviews or presentations
  • Participate in the Ontario Region’s issues and crisis communications response

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree and/or other post-secondary education in Communications, Journalism or equivalent, a combination of relevant education and experience
  • Minimum of 5-8 years’ professional communications experience including in a management or team leadership capacity
  • Exceptional writing, public speaking and presentation skills
  • Ability to forge and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • In-depth experience with digital media (including websites, social media, etc.)
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint
  • Exceptional organizational skills and able to manage multiple, concurrent deadlines under tight timelines; comfortable prioritizing and balancing multiple priorities and deadlines with minimal guidance
  • Fluency in French is an asset
