ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Based in North Bay, Kirkland Lake and/or Timmins ON, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Community Relations Assistant to join our Community Relations team reporting to the Supervisor, Community Relations Ontario Region.

The Community Relations Assistant will have an opportunity to be part of an exciting and dynamic team of community engagement practitioners, researchers, and Indigenous Affairs representatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the guidance of the Community Relations Supervisor in Ontario, you'll join our Community Relations team to help us meet our goals while upholding Agnico Eagle's core values. Your role will involve:

  • Assisting with community relations and communications tasks to ensure consistency across Ontario.
  • Helping facilitate plans to address community relations needs and risks.
  • Documenting engagement activities and supporting regulatory processes.
  • Archiving, recording and updating (both digitally and physical copy) consultation records, agreements and memos.
  • Assisting with the preparation of engagement and consultation summaries.
  • Participating in and coordinating meetings and events, which may include travel.
  • Supporting the achievement of regional and corporate objectives.
  • Working collaboratively with various internal departments.

QUALIFICATIONS

Our ideal candidate is:

  • Pursuing or recently completed a university degree in social sciences, humanities, communications, Indigenous studies, environmental studies, or a related field.
  • Interested in community relations, corporate social responsibility, and environmental stewardship.
  • A good communicator with strong writing skills.
  • Willing to learn and engage with Indigenous cultures and communities.
  • Strong with interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a diverse team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluent in English, and knowledge of French, Cree, Algonquin, or Anishinaabe is an asset.
  • Open to flexible work hours and travel within Ontario
