ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Based at the Upper Beaver Site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Electrician to join our Shaft team.

 

Agnico Eagle Mines' Upper Beaver Gold Project is situated on the traditional homelands of the Apitipi Anicinapek Nation, Beaver house First Nation, Matachewan First Nation and Timiskaming First Nation. Reporting to the Electrical Superintendent, you will be an integral part of the Shaft Sinking Department, supporting the Upper Beaver Gold project. Your role will involve ensuring that all goals and objectives are met while upholding Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and environmental standards.

 

The Electrician will be responsible for ensuring reliable and proper function of all electrical systems within the Shaft Sinking Department.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain and repair hoists, winches, fixed equipment, compressors, and ventilation and heating systems;
  • Install and maintain electrical equipment on the Galloway and equipment deck;
  • Install and maintain communication systems in the shaft and on the conveyances;
  • Install electric cables in the shaft;
  • Construct electrical substations in the shaft;
  • Complying with all safety policies, procedures and regulations;
  • Diagnosing and detecting faults in complex electronic and electrical equipment;
  • Assisting in the development, construction and installation of new electrical systems;
  • Follow the OHSA acts and regs for mines – Z462 standards;
  • Provide support to centralized maintenance team;
  • All other duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Our ideal candidate has:

  • High School diploma required
  • Shaft Sinking experience required
  • Licensed Electrician (Ontario)
  • Must be able to read and interpret electrical prints
  • Understanding of lockouts, high voltage switching
  • Understanding of PLC systems and asset
  • Teamwork and self starting work ethic
