ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Based at the Upper Beaver Site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Mechanic to join our Shaft team.

Reporting to the Mechanic Superintendent, you will be an integral part of the Shaft Sinking Department, supporting the Upper Beaver Gold project. Your role will involve ensuring that all goals and objectives are met while upholding Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and environmental standards.

 

The Mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance of mine equipment within the Shaft Sinking Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Perform maintenance and repair  hoists, winches, shaft jumbos, and vertical shaft muckers.
  • Maintain and repair surface compressors and ventilation fans.
  • Conduct repairs on jack legs, stoppers, pluggers, and air pumps.
  • Inspect and maintain Galloway and Equipping Deck
  • Inspect hoist ropes, conveyances and perform rope cuts as required
  • Service both light and heavy-duty equipment, including pickup trucks, loaders, and telehandlers.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of mine equipment and facilities to insure their maximum contribution to the safety, quality and productivity of the operation
  • Reads and interprets blueprints while carefully following manufacturer’s instructions
  • Carries out working orders related to the preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance plan of the operation
  • Ensures that the work areas, equipment and work practices comply with the regulatory codes, statutes and company requirements
  • Liaises effectively with colleagues and managers regarding various work situations and the activities within the department
  • All other duties as may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Shaft Sinking experience required
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma required
  • Mechanic License required
  • Possess a valid CWB welding certification.
  • Hold a certification for performing poured rope socket procedures.
  • Experience troubleshooting engines, hydraulic and electrical issues, etc.
  • Experience reading & understanding hydraulic and electrical schematics
  • Teamwork and self starting work ethic
