Rotation: 4/3 schedule, 10 hour shifts

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Based at our Macassa Mine, we currently have an exciting opportunity for an Electrician/Instrumentation Technician to join our Mill Maintenance team.
The Macassa Mine is a high-grade gold producer, with grade improving at depth, and a key valuation driver for Agnico Eagle. Located in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, the Macassa Mine remains one of the highest gold grade mines in the world. Macassa commenced operations in 2002, and with the discovery of the South Mine Complex has been able to increase its level of production significantly over the past five years. The mine is located in an area with well-developed infrastructure, including a provincial highway, a railway system and a private airport. High-grade ore is processed at the Macassa Mill, which currently has available capacity and is located in close proximity to the mine.
The Electrician/Instrumentation Technician will troubleshoot electrical systems including electrical mobile equipment, power distribution, leaky feeder (communication systems), PLC, motor controls and any other work as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Your responsibilities will include:
- Perform electrical/instrumentation work on new installations, trouble shooting, and repairs as required
- Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams, blueprints, and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations
- Lay down wires; splicing and connecting wires; installing switches, circuit breakers
- Analyze electrical systems and equipment to figure out why they aren’t working
- Conduct preventative maintenance programs on electrical/instrumentation equipment and keep maintenance records
- Test continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of system, following installation, replacement, or repair
- Adhere to the OHSA & Acts and Regulations for mines –Z463 and Z462 arc flash Standards
- Work on assigned daily lineup following work orders and instructions
- Provide electrical/instrumentation services to new and used equipment, including the power feed cabling, electrical protection equipment in compliance with ESA rules and regulations
- Participate in project specific work as required
- Install and maintain various instruments
- Build and maintain AutoCAD prints
- Ability to troubleshoot and program PLC logic
- Other duties as directed from time to time
QUALIFICATIONS
Our ideal candidate has:
- 2-year course on instrumentation or equivalent
- Must have a working knowledge of PLC programming, GE PLC knowledge would be an asset
- Ability to troubleshoot various instrumentation devices, including flow meters, temperature sensing device, weighing device, etc.
- Ability to work indpendently as well as in a team environment
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in Mill Environment (mostly enclosed) exposure to environmental conditions can be hot, cold, noisy, dusty, etc.
- Ability to walk and climb – the Mill functional areas are only accessible via stairway(s) this is a physical requirement.
- Ability to sit and stand in active and non-stationary environments
- Ability to bend and stoop when cleaning and removing debris
- Ability to crouch and balance, must be agile
- Ability to lift to and above shoulder height
