INTRO
Location: Macassa Mine, Kirkland Lake, ON
Rotation: 7/7 schedule, 10 hour shifts / 7/7 schedule, 11 hour shifts / 4/3 schedule, 10 hour shifts (depend on the schedule)
This role is not a Camp Based opportunity.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Based at the Macassa Mine Site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Engineering Co-op Student to join our Engineering team.
The Macassa Mine is a high-grade gold producer, with grade improving at depth, and a key valuation driver for Agnico Eagle. Located in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, the Macassa Mine remains one of the highest gold grade mines in the world. Macassa commenced operations in 2002, and with the discovery of the South Mine Complex has been able to increase its level of production significantly over the past five years. The mine is located in an area with well-developed infrastructure, including a provincial highway, a railway system and a private airport. High-grade ore is processed at the Macassa Mill, which currently has available capacity and is located in close proximity to the mine.
The Engineering Co-op student will provide support to the various operational elements within Engineering department as per departmental needs. This rotation within the different disciplines in the engineering department will provide growth and development for the engineering student(s). The length of time at each level will depend on the employee’s ability to grasp concepts and demonstrate that he/she can work semi-independently on the subject matter before moving on to the next phase.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Placement within ventilation, surveying, planning or ground control departments.
- Perform duties of a surveyor, mine planner, ground control tech and/or vent tech as per each job description.
- Visit underground on a regular basis to perform duties.
- Strong focus on safety.
- Other duties and projects as assigned. Potential for rotation within department depending on length of co-op term
QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently working towards a Geological or Mining engineering degree or technical college diploma.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Entry level position- set experience time not a pre-requisite.
- Day Shift (up to 11 hours depending of shift schedule)
- Sitting, computer use, keyboard skills.
- Lifting, up to 10 kg ground to waist height occasionally,
- Occasional push pull.
- Daily standing, walking over uneven ground
- Occasionally in awkward positions – squatting, kneeling, bent over
- Environment conditions can be: hot, cold, humid, wet, dusty. Lighting is restricted. May be excessive noise. UG Airflow is artificial.
- Ground conditions may be wet, muddy slippery, sloped inclines, loose rocks and obstacles on the ground.
