ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanic Labourer to join our Mine Maintenance team.
The Macassa Mine is a high-grade gold producer, with grade improving at depth, and a key valuation driver for Agnico Eagle. Located in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, the Macassa Mine remains one of the highest gold grade mines in the world. Macassa commenced operations in 2002, and with the discovery of the South Mine Complex has been able to increase its level of production significantly over the past five years. The mine is located in an area with well-developed infrastructure, including a provincial highway, a railway system and a private airport. High-grade ore is processed at the Macassa Mill, which currently has available capacity and is located in close proximity to the mine.
The Mechanic Labourer is an integral member supporting the safe and continuous Mining operation of the site.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Your responsibilities will include:
- Keeps equipment cleaned, lubricated and maintained.
- Work to keep the shop and work areas in a clean, safe and inspection ready state.
- Housekeeping and material handling are key roles.
- Miscellaneous task as they arise.
- Assist mechanics as needed.
- Cleaning shop equipment.
- Minor equipment maintenance- under the mechanics supervision.
- Order shop supplies.
- Maintain the Lube room and dispensing stations.
- Assist with shipping and receiving as needed.
- Must have a team spirit spirit to accomplish final goals and work cooperatively with others.
- Attention to detail is essential.
- Flexible to work on various tasks as required.
- Prepare jobs for the mechanics.
- Performs physically demanding duties such as: heavy lifting, working in cramped or awkward positions, climbing on/off units, getting in/out of units, working long hours if required – to meet operational deadlines.
- Maintains a customer focused approach.
- Appreciation of Utilisation of Availability (U of A) with Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) being key.
- Apply 5 S principles - Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain.
- All other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Our ideal candidate has:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
- Interest in mechanic trade.
- Able to set priorities and work with at times limited supervision.
- The ability to think logically and keep up with changes in technology.
- Basic computer skills, written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous underground experience an asset.
- Teamwork and self starting work ethic.
- Must have a valid driver’s licence.
- Individual must be safety oriented.
- Able to take and follow instructions.
- Strong Organizational skills and attention to details.
