ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Based at the Macassa Mine Site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mine Data Analyst to join our Engineering team for a 1-year contract.
The Macassa Mine is a high-grade gold producer, with grade improving at depth, and a key valuation driver for Agnico Eagle. Located in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, the Macassa Mine remains one of the highest gold grade mines in the world. Macassa commenced operations in 2002, and with the discovery of the South Mine Complex has been able to increase its level of production significantly over the past five years. The mine is located in an area with well-developed infrastructure, including a provincial highway, a railway system and a private airport. High-grade ore is processed at the Macassa Mill, which currently has available capacity and is located in close proximity to the mine.
The Mine Data Analyst will have the opportunity to gain valuable insight into the day-to-day operation of a world-class mining asset and participate and contribute to the design and materialization of technical, tactical, and administrative business strategies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Your responsibilities will include:
- Design, construct, and operate ancillary data infrastructure required to support efficient data analysis endeavours
- Ensure key data is available and accessible across the business improvement group and is efficiently communicated across the organization
- Develop and provide clean, transformed data ready for analysis
- Conduct data warehousing, data architecture, and data performance optimizations
- Apply best practices to analytics and engineering principles as needed
- Synergize with key business stakeholders to derive data-driven questions, and subsequently develop respective data-driven solutions
- Use statistics and core analytics techniques to extract value from data, geared towards enhancing the mines productive capacity and extract business improvement initiatives
- Participate and support in descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analysis
- Participate in the integration of technical, tactical, and administrative strategies into the standard operating practices of the Macassa mine site
- Catalyze technical, tactical/operational, and administrative decision-making processes for the Macassa site
- Contribute technical expertise in the application of engineering principles within an array of engineering disciplines as needed
- Support the engineering, mine maintenance, and mine operations groups via enabling data-driven perspectives that will assist in optimizing and enhancing the mine sites performance
- Support technical and operational groups as required
QUALIFICATIONS
Our ideal candidate has:
- A degree in Engineering and/or applied sciences
- Is eligible or may become eligible to apply for Professional Engineer designation in Ontario
- Presents well-rounded verbal and written communication skills
- Has the ability to work independently as required or as part of a high-performance team
- Presents good interpersonal skills
- Has a keen ability to communicate technical concepts and science-based principles to various audiences
- Presents previous experience in the application of mathematics and physics for field-based problem solving
- Previous experience and/or CO-OP working in a mining environment
- Computer programing language is considered an asset
- Previous underground mining experience is considered an asset
