Rotation: 4/3 (4 days on, 3 days off)
This role is not a Camp Based opportunity.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Based at the Macassa Mine Site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mine Planner/EIT to join our Mine Maintenance team.
The Macassa Mine is a high-grade gold producer, with grade improving at depth, and a key valuation driver for Agnico Eagle. Located in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, the Macassa Mine remains one of the highest gold grade mines in the world. Macassa commenced operations in 2002, and with the discovery of the South Mine Complex has been able to increase its level of production significantly over the past five years. The mine is located in an area with well-developed infrastructure, including a provincial highway, a railway system and a private airport. High-grade ore is processed at the Macassa Mill, which currently has available capacity and is located in close proximity to the mine.
The Mine Planner/EIT will participate in technical activities related to the ongoing development and production of the mine operation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Your responsibilities will include:
- Produce development and stope layouts.
- Provide plans and design layouts to all within distribution list
- Ensure all design information is available for survey prints to be issued
- Check work of peers for correctness and accuracy
- Design a mining area, with minimum direction and supervision, from a concept provided for them
- Develop mining plans in conjunction with other departments such as maintenance, electrical, geology and underground and are required to follow all acts regulations under the OHSA and Reg. 854
- Lead conceptual meetings, identifying new development requirements that may be coming due and identifying all projects, which may be falling behind
- Stay current of activities within respective headings and remain up-to-date of production, development and drilling rates to accurately schedule and prioritize required work
- Reconcile stopes upon completion
- Paste cycle tracking- ensuring all plans and prints are available for paste filling stopes
- Provide input to the Senior Mine Planner to develop and maintain a rolling 3-month plan, which will allow the mine to meet its production/exploration commitments and goals
- Work jointly with Underground Captains to develop daily and weekly plans in a timely manner
- Visits to underground workings regularly to assess conditions, gather data and make recommendations for improvements
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Our ideal candidate has:
- B.Sc / B.Tech Degree in Mining Engineering or Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 year’s relevant experience in an operating mine
- Experience in underground Hard Rock Mining Environment preferred
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and presentation skills
- Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment.
- Working knowledge of mine design software is an asset (AutoCAD, Promine, Deswik)
