Based at the Macassa Mine Site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Nurse to join our Health & Safety team for a 6 - 8 month contract.

The Macassa Mine is a high-grade gold producer, with grade improving at depth, and a key valuation driver for Agnico Eagle.  Located in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, the Macassa Mine remains one of the highest gold grade mines in the world. Macassa commenced operations in 2002, and with the discovery of the South Mine Complex has been able to increase its level of production significantly over the past five years. The mine is located in an area with well-developed infrastructure, including a provincial highway, a railway system and a private airport. High-grade ore is processed at the Macassa Mill, which currently has available capacity and is located in close proximity to the mine. 


The Occupational Nurse will be responsible for supporting the site medical and health needs.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develops a preventative health environment ensuring compliance with all policies, legislation and regulations affecting health and medical requirements.
  • Establishes a calendar of events and scheduled prevention education fitting operational and seasonal risks.
  • Professionally treats and supports workers with any first aid or associated conditions that supports best prognosis for conditions.
  • Collaborates and liaises with the HR, Health and Safety Training team to monitor, participate, assess and consult on safety issues as required.
  • Refers workers to further treatment after advising managements first where applicable.
  • Supports WSIB case management claims.
  • Minimizes risk to workers and the business by applying timely, first aid to prevent complication of any physical compromise.
  • Other duties as directed from time to time.


  • Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Knowledge of provisional legislation including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Workplace Safety Insurance Act.
  • Current Certifications in CPR and First Aid.
  • Previous experience in an industrial setting is preferred.
  • Competent with computers and proficient  in all Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and time management skills..
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and within a team structure.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Self-motivated, energetic and proactive.
  • Professional in all outward facing activities to be representative of the company.
