ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Based at the Macassa Mine Site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our Engineering team.
The Macassa Mine is a high-grade gold producer, with grade improving at depth, and a key valuation driver for Agnico Eagle. Located in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, the Macassa Mine remains one of the highest gold grade mines in the world. Macassa commenced operations in 2002, and with the discovery of the South Mine Complex has been able to increase its level of production significantly over the past five years. The mine is located in an area with well-developed infrastructure, including a provincial highway, a railway system and a private airport. High-grade ore is processed at the Macassa Mill, which currently has available capacity and is located in close proximity to the mine.
The Project Engineer will be responsible to ensure the safe, economical and environmentally sound coordination of mine projects, as well as keeping up to date with compliance and safety practice.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the execution of projects
- Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
- Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress of projects
- Report and escalate to management as needed
- Perform risk management to minimize project risks
- Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals
- Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis
- Help produce budget physicals and costs for projects
- Lead strategic sessions, with input from stakeholders
- Assist in project budgeting for projects in upcoming years
- Create AFEs for projects as required
- Other responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Our ideal candidate has:
- Minimum BSc in Mining Engineering
- Must be registered or immediately eligible to register as a P.Eng in Ontario
- 4+ years of a variety of mining experience, both operational and technical, with the majority in underground mining
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and presentation skills.
- Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment
- High level computer literacy as applied to mining engineering
- Proven working experience in project management
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Able to work individually and as part of a team
