ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Based at the Upper Beaver Site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Shaft Engineer to join our Shaft team.

 

Agnico Eagle Mines' Upper Beaver Gold Project is situated on the traditional homelands of the Apitipi Anicinapek Nation, Beaver house First Nation, Matachewan First Nation and Timiskaming First Nation. Reporting to the Shaft Superintendent, you will be an integral part of the Shaft Sinking Department, supporting the Upper Beaver Gold project. Your role will involve ensuring that all goals and objectives are met while upholding Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and environmental standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Follow the daily planning done by the shaft superintendent
  • Supervise and guide the technical crew
  • Ensure that the good Engineer practice is followed for the shaft construction
  • Track all installation done in the shaft
  • Prepare and review daily report
  • Update drawings as required
  • Maintain the QA/QC of the project
  • Control the quality of survey deliverables
  • Establish sequence for the steel installation in the shaft
  • Act as a liaison between the technical and operation department
  • Ensure that the maintenance and calibration of all survey equipment are completed
  • Promote good housekeeping, ensuring proper PPE and tools are used for all task
  • Health and Safety compliance inspections, Job Task Observation
  • Liaises effectively with colleagues and managers regarding various work situations and the activities within the department
  • All other duties as may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Shaft Sinking experience required, minimum 8 years.
  • Engineering Technical Diploma/Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ontario common core
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and AutoCAD.
  • Teamwork and self-starting work ethic
