ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Based at the Macassa Mine Site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Tailings & Water Management Labourer to join our Mill Operations team.

The Macassa Mine is a high-grade gold producer, with grade improving at depth, and a key valuation driver for Agnico Eagle.  Located in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, the Macassa Mine remains one of the highest gold grade mines in the world. Macassa commenced operations in 2002, and with the discovery of the South Mine Complex has been able to increase its level of production significantly over the past five years. The mine is located in an area with well-developed infrastructure, including a provincial highway, a railway system and a private airport. High-grade ore is processed at the Macassa Mill, which currently has available capacity and is located in close proximity to the mine.

 

The Tailings & Water Management Labourer performs safe operational, maintenance and monitoring activities related to Macassa mill tailings storage facilities and water treatment ponds/systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure Safe Work Practices: Identify and mitigate potential hazards in production and safety.
  • Monitor and Maintain Systems: Conduct, assist, and perform general monitoring and repairs of seepage ponds, ETP systems, water management infrastructure, thickened tailings operations, and tailings dam systems. Operate all aforementioned areas.
  • Record Keeping: Monitor and maintain logbooks and personal records related to daily activities and readings from the monitoring of tailings, ETP, and ponds for due diligence.
  • Skill Development: Demonstrate competency in Basic Mill Common Core and heavy mobile equipment, and work towards completing other required modules.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with team members to meet and exceed daily KPIs set by the Supervisor.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Literacy and Numeracy: Adequate skills to meet the role requirements.
  • Industrial Aptitude: Experience or aptitude consistent with an industrial setting.
  • Mechanical Insight: Ability to understand operations within acceptable parameters and note subtle differences.
  • Independent Problem-Solving: Capability to work independently and take initiative in solving problems.
  • Heavy Equipment Operation: Proficiency in operating heavy equipment.
  • Light Vehicle Operation: Competence in operating light vehicles.
  • English Proficiency: Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Basic Computer Skills: Fundamental computer literacy.
  • Safety Awareness: A strong safety mindset.
  • Effective Communication: Ability to communicate and work effectively with multiple departments.
